About

It started in a bank boardroom.

A handful of friends wanted to understand Scripture better. What they landed on was simple enough to hand to anyone — and it has since reached churches on nearly every continent.

Simply stated

Read two chapters of the Bible repetitively, and get with other believers weekly to share what the Holy Spirit has taught you from the Word. It's really that simple.

What we're convinced of

Why it's this small on purpose.

Every decision here is a decision to remove something. What's left is the part that actually changes people.

Scripture, not commentary about Scripture
The text does the work. Our job is to get people in front of it often enough that it has a chance to.
Repetition over volume
Reading the whole Bible in a year is a fine goal that often produces very little. Reading two chapters five times produces change.
Out loud, with people
Something happens when you have to say what God showed you to someone who will see you again next week. Privately held insight tends to evaporate.
Simple enough to pass on
If a method needs a trained leader, it stops at that leader. This one can be handed to anyone in a sentence — which is why it travels.

The finding underneath it

Four times a week is the threshold.

Believers who engage meaningfully with Scripture at least four times a week experience measurable change: faith grows stronger, and destructive patterns begin to lose their grip. Below that, the effect largely disappears.

That single number is the reason Simple Discipleship exists, and the reason the ask is daily rather than weekly. Simple Discipleship lays out the research and what Pastor Travis Johnson has watched it do in practice.
